Professor Danforn Lim graduated from the University of New South Wales and he is a medical practitioner, university clinical academician and a well-known media personality in the Chinese community in Sydney NSW. In 2016, Prof Lim was also awarded to be the Business Person of the Year at the Local Business Award. He is one of the very few doctors in the country to hold both registrations as a Registered Medical Practitioner (with Specialist Registration) and Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner in Australia. With knowledge in both Western and Chinese Medicine, Prof Lim keeps an open mind in his clinical practice and aims to deliver the best possible care to his patients.
Academically, Prof Lim has completed 3 Bachelor degrees, 3 postgraduate diplomas, 3 Master degrees and 3 Doctorate degrees. He has published more than 85 journal articles in the last 8 years as well as being a reviewer/editorial board member (including Editor in chief) for more than 35 different peer reviewed journals. He received full government and universities scholarship support for his PhD(Medicine) and Doctor of Medical Science research studies. He also has a doctorate degree in Business Administration.
Prof Lim was named the Business Person of the Year at the Local Business Award for the Canterbury Region of Sydney and he was also been interviewed by the Canterbury Council Business Team. In 2017, he has passed the assessment and being the first 50 Australians within the country to gain the qualification of being a Chartered Manager in both UK and Australia as well as being a Chartered Fellow of the Australian Institute of Managers and Leaders. In 2018, to honor his belief in continual education, Prof Lim has been selected to complete the business sustainable management & leadership program with the Cambridge University in the UK.
In 2017, Prof Lim has been been sought by Cancer Australia and Cancer Council NSW to host a series of Webinars on cancer treatment, lifestyle awareness as well as cancer care. Before that, in 2016, he was sought by the National Bowel Cancer Screening program to be the professional media spoke person. In 2013, he was sought to be the spoke-person for the Lung cancer prevention project and Pool Safety campaign that were run by Cancer Institute NSW and Children Hospital at Westmead respectively.
In the community, Prof Lim has an excellent liaison relationship with many community organisations. On a voluntary basis, he have filmed 208 episodes (4 years in a row on weekly basis) for an Integrative medicine TV programme in TVBA (a paid Chinese channel of television in Australia with daily viewer >130,000 people and covered >20,000 households and commercial outlets) from 2012-2016 to teach the general public on various topics in medicine, Chinese medicine, lifestyles medicine, nutritional medicine and environmental medicine. He is a presenter on a weekly basis at 2 radios medical programmes at 2AC and 2CR stations since 2008. Since 2009, Prof Lim has also been writing article on weekly basis for a medical column published in the Australian Chinese Daily Weekly Magazine. So far he has written more than 500 articles and each consists of about 2000 words. The topics that he covered in his column covers western medicine, psychological medicine, Chinese medicine, lifestyle medicine, nutritional medicine, dietary advice and environmental medicine.
